I've met many nurses some really nice and some borderline evil.

Unfortunately, a lot of patients can be suffering so much in agonizing pain they are angry because in the wild if they were injured it would make one vulnerable so they may have that adrenaline coursing through them, severely nutrient deficient or anemic to the point of it making them paranoid, they may be in an altered state of consciousness that may cause end of life agitation until they are stabilized, metastatic cancer that reaches the brain can also cause personality changes, older patients may have neurological conditions, and unfortunately illness is a trauma some people haven't faced with uncertainty of death so they do lash out in fear. Family may also be determined to make sure the lived one is okay so they may be demanding because they are scared. This doesn't make it okay but hospitals definitely admit people in crisis or else they send the patient home. There's also the worry the patient has of bills, family, or needing to work without disability support after

Go do a different nursing job, plenty of other fields and settings you can get into.

Nursing is soul crushing ....I lost counting how many times patients refused my care because I am black or called me names.

Lady just say you weren’t in it for the right things. Nursing and other medical profession is like literally walking with jesus. You have to be able to forgive them do your best and pray for them. You were in it for the money. While it is a decent pay the job isn’t for everyone. You have to be compassionate understanding and know that this person isn’t always like this under normal non painful circumstances. There will always be a few people who are just mean and that way everywhere they go. But 90 percent of your patients are scared in pain want to go home wish they could start the day over do something differently. Have you thought about being like a dental assistant or like work behind the computer. Or maybe like a dermatology center. 😂❤

If you are working in the medical field you gotta realize you are dealing with a lot of people on the worst, most painful, or terrifying days of their lives and they aren't going to be the best version of themselves to anyone including the people trying to help them. You have to be the best, most caring, empathetic, patient and forgiving person you can be for grueling hours, days on end though.. Yeah it sounds hellish and not anyone can do it. I certainly can't.

Maybe this woman shouldn't be a nurse and that's ok but don't say no one should be. That's your choice. She used the word toxic that's when she lost me. These people are ill, scared in a new environment that's not home, people they don't know coming in and out, maybe not knowing prognosis or what's wrong with them, i don't see how blaming them and getting offended makes you nurse material. I'm sorry. Change your specialty... You can make good money working in insurance ... Instead of walking out making the nurses there have even more patients now that they have yours to cover

Well, for one...when people need a nurse, they are probably not feeling thier best. Lol so duh. People in retail get it bad with people just shopping...of course its times 10 with sicka dn hurt people.

1. If work is prison then its not for you 2. People are rude not patients 3. Nurses can be just as bad 4. Leaving your station is patient neglect and is fireable possibly losing your license 5. If you leave your coworkers like that they dont deserve to be treated like that.

Sad part is that she's probably a decent human being that wants to do what she went to school to do but here she is burnt out and regretting her decision to be a nurse. There not all nice but they deserve to be treated with respect.

Perhaps it is time for this nurse to find a new career.

Man i am so scared of being rude to people, these nurses are only trying to help and ive seen firsthand how rude some people are to them sometimes. When i shattered and dislocated my ankle, despite being in delirious amounts of pain, i was "yes maam, no maam, thank you so much, dont worry about me i can hang on, you dont have to excuse yourself for a patient thats higher priority." They were saying stuff like "oh honey im so so sorry, we have a cardiac emergency, youre gonna have to wai-" "Go ahead, dont worry about me! Ill be okay!"

I am always nice to nurses. But I have had nurses be rude to me right off the shot and they caught me in labor and I wasn't so nice.

I was called yellow monkey when I was whipping patient poop 💩 bc she was obese and can’t clean herself. FYI she wasn’t white and I’m not white either

SHE IS SPOT ON I am an ER Doc and I have to get on several patients a week for the way they are treating my RNs as well as the RNs on the floor. The biggest issue is with the Drug Seeking patients who go off on the nurses for not giving them Oxy or other meds that they are NOT ALLOWED TO PRESCRIBE THEM. They will punch, kick, pull hair, scratch, and spit on the nurses. I'm 6'7" 265 lbs of pure muscle and I have literally lifted some of these fat f*cks right off of the bed and dragged them out of my ER and out the door since the average age of our "Security" is 70. I refuse to allow my nurses to be treated like crap because some loser is addicted to opioids. We don't have time for their foolishness, we have actual sick patients who don't treat others like crap that need our help. For those of you saying she isn't built for this job or whatever, I bet you haven't worked a day in a busy hospital or clinic. You need to STFU.

I get that patients are nit feeling their best, obviously, being in a hospital, but i have never been rude to a nurse or doctor. They are there to help. but ya people are sick and injuired so probably lash out.

I agree with a lot of these comments, but all because nursing is a known high stress job, doesnt mean it has to be a toxic one. Nurses dont get treated right a lot of the time

People who get into nursing should know what they are getting into... Its not for everyone. Its not a easy profession. Also, need to not take things to heart. Im not a nurse but I worked in a hospital for eight years. Saw a lot and some of the biggest unsung heros are nurses and what they do.
